If cello and the desire to play it is an important part of your life

The Easter 2026 course will be held at St Edward’s School, Oxford.

We are returning to St Edward’s School, Oxford. The school offers everything we need; state of the art music facilities, comfortable boarding houses (single) rooms, excellent food, sports facilities and is near to the centre of Oxford; just a 10 minute taxi drive from the station.

As ever the course offers all the familiar opportunities - a cello lesson every
day with international standard teachers, listening to masterclasses, rehearsal time with high class pianists, performance platforms, practice spaces and time at the end of the day for a vivid social life and relaxation. I am sure you will enjoy this facility and have a great cello week. Come to Oxford for an inspiring week in a hard-working but uncompetitive, non-judgemental, supportive environment. Come and take a great leap forward on your cello journey!

There is plenty of time to talk to each other and the staff about college training and routes into the profession. For our adult learners or students not intending to become professional musicians there is support for your pathway too. The foundation of knowledge about our instrument is common to us all …

The Aim of the
International
Cello Gathering

If cello and the desire to play it is an important part of your life then this unique course with its personable, friendly atmosphere and wonderful setting has everything! In this uncompetitive environment where there are no agendas other than to help the course members play to the best of their ability, to go on stage ready to play and to ensure healthy performance practice for the long term.

Whatever your goal,  the course is designed to help individuals with their specific needs as well as facilitating outstanding short term progress. You can be immersed in the cello repertoire (your own current projects) and by listening to the classes become grounded in the great sonatas and concertos.

I feel like I have grown and improved so much within the week. All the teachers have given me great advice which I can continue to use to help improve my playing. In between the lessons there was plenty of time to practice and to put into place what I had learnt. As well as great teachers, having the time with an accompanist and a performance opportunity was hugely beneficial, especially as I have my final recital coming up.
